Section 01 · The audit

Four leaks. One audit. Every fix in plain English.

Most "website audits" are made for developers. This one is made for the person who owns the business and just wants more booked jobs. Here's what we check.

01

AI search visibility

When a Calgary homeowner asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google AI for a plumber, do they get your name or your competitor's? We run real queries and see who the AI is recommending.

Sample finding

You're invisible to Perplexity. When we asked "best plumber in Calgary NW," the AI named six businesses. None were you. Your nearest competitor was mentioned 3 times. Fix this and you're back in the conversation.

02

Mobile "Call Now" speed

A homeowner with a flooded basement is panicking on their phone. If your Call Now button takes more than 3 seconds to load on a typical mobile connection, you're asking a panicking person to wait. Some won't.

Sample finding

Your Call Now button takes 6.2 seconds to load on a throttled mobile connection. Your two closest competitors load theirs in under two. That gap is the finding. What it costs you, we won't pretend to know.

03

Local SEO and Google Business Profile

If you don't show up in the Google Map Pack for your service area, you don't exist to most Calgary homeowners. We cross-check your website against your GBP and the directories AI platforms actually trust.

Sample finding

Your address doesn't match between your website and Google Business Profile. Your site says "Suite 200," Google says "Unit 200." Sounds small, but a mismatch like this makes you harder to verify as a single business, and that is associated with getting passed over. 30-minute fix.

04

Trust signals and reviews

Homeowners are letting you into their house. Visible licensing, recent reviews, BBB or HomeStars badges, and insurance proof are the things that turn a website visit into a phone call.

Sample finding

Your master plumber license isn't anywhere on your home page. Homeowners who care enough to check will bounce to a competitor whose license number is visible. Put it in the footer. Costs nothing, recovers lost calls.

Section 02 · The voice

Reports written in your language, not your web developer's.

Most audit tools spit out reports that read like a developer wrote them for another developer. Trade owners delete those. Here's the difference.

What other audit tools say

Useless
Resolve render-blocking resources in <head>. Defer non-critical CSS via media='print' attribute swap.
Largest Contentful Paint exceeds 2.5s. Recommend preload directive on hero image and font subsetting.
Schema.org/LocalBusiness @type missing required geo property. Validate via Rich Results Test.

What LeadsLeak says

Useful
Your homepage is slow on phones. A panicked homeowner waits about 3 seconds before they call the next plumber. Yours takes 6. Have your web developer shrink the photos at the top of the page.
The "Book a Quote" button on your kitchen reno page is broken. Clicks go to a dead page. People give up and call someone else. Five-minute fix for your web developer.
Your Google Business Profile says "Unit 200" but your website says "Suite 200." AI tools can read those as two different businesses, which makes you harder to verify and easier to pass over. Pick one, match them.

Section 03 · Process

Three steps. Sixty seconds. Then a fix list in your inbox.

No dashboard logins. No software to learn. You answer four questions, we run the audit, you get a PDF you can read on your phone or forward to your web developer.

We don't just show you where your competitors get traffic. We show you why AI recommends them instead of you, and the exact evidence gap you need to close.

Section 04 · Coverage

Built for these Calgary trades.

Each trade has different queries, different competitors, different trust signals that matter. Pick yours for a trade-specific audit.

Built inCalgaryAlberta

Why Calgary first

We know this city's trades market by name.

We're trades-marketing operators based in Calgary. We know which directories the AI platforms trust here, how Calgary homeowners actually phrase their searches, and which Calgary competitors are eating your leads right now. That knowledge is the moat, and it's tuned tightest for Calgary.

So we start where we have the unfair advantage. Calgary trades get our sharpest read. The same four-dimension audit works across Alberta too, adjusted for your local market. More on that just below.

Calgary first, Alberta wide

Not in Calgary? If you're a trade in Alberta, this is for you too.

Calgary is our home base and where our read is sharpest. But the way AI platforms decide who to recommend, the way homeowners search on their phones, the way your address has to match across directories, none of that stops at the city limits. The same four-dimension audit works for trades right across the province.

Run your free audit with your real city and you'll get results tuned to where you actually work. The local competitor set and the directories that matter shift by region, and the scan adjusts for that.

The story

Why I built this

I've had a bathtub refinishing business in Calgary since 2002. Website since 2004. Four builds later, I'm still doing it.

I learned SEO at the university-of-hard-knocks. Keywords. Long-tail phrases. Whatever the newest Google update said we were now supposed to care about. Photos swapped. Content rewritten. Whole rebuilds when things stopped working. Some of it paid off. Most of it just drained the bank account.

When Google Ads came out we went full bore, trying to figure out the most economical way to actually get a return. For a long stretch, it worked. Then Google started shipping updates, and every update moved the goalposts. Endless loop. Conform to the newest thing they said they wanted, watch it work for a while, watch it stop working, do it all again. I'll admit it: it's still one of the best hobbies I've had.

Then I noticed a huge national company running video ads using one of my main keywords. The exact same phrase I'd registered as my business name years earlier. I started watching my analytics obsessively. Running my own company name as a negative keyword. Fighting for scraps of my own traffic.

In late March this year (2026), Google shipped a spam update. Two days later, on March 27, they started rolling out a broad core update that didn't finish until April 8. The phones went dead. The inbox was empty. It was like somebody flipped the switch off. Most of our pages dropped out of the results. The trickle of organic traffic that was still coming through wasn't enough to keep us afloat. My understanding is that our website got flagged as "misleading." Whether that was the huge company or the algorithm updates or both, I honestly can't tell you.

The end result: we had to change our company name back to our original registered name from 24 years ago, build a new website, and start over.

Built for the Calgary trades.

Nobody else should have to go through what I went through. And it's not just Google and SEO anymore. Your bigger worry now is showing up when a customer asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Copilot for a plumber, an electrician, a roofer. If you're not in that answer, you're nowhere. That's what LeadsLeak is for. You give us the business, we run the four checks, and you get a report showing where you're leaking leads to your competitors, what your SEO is missing, what's slowing your mobile site down, and the broken links and dead pages we can find. Right now I'm running these by hand while the scanner gets built, so it takes me a day, not a couple of minutes. Downloadable PDF. Hand it to your web developer and get on with running your business.

This story isn't fiction. It can be verified.

Section 06 · Common questions

Things Alberta trade owners ask before they audit.

Straight answers. No marketing fluff.

I already have Google reviews and a website. Why do I need this?
Google reviews help with Maps and traditional search. They don't tell you whether ChatGPT recommends you, whether your Call Now button loads fast enough on mobile, whether your address matches between your site and Google Business Profile, or whether your master plumber license is visible to homeowners who care. LeadsLeak checks all four. Together they're how Calgary homeowners actually decide who to call.
Do homeowners actually use AI to find plumbers and electricians?
Test it yourself in about thirty seconds. Open ChatGPT or Perplexity and ask for the best emergency plumber in your part of town. See whose name comes back, and whether it's yours. That's a better answer than any statistic we could quote you, and it costs you nothing to check. We're deliberately not quoting you an adoption percentage here. Most of the numbers circulating on this topic are extrapolated from other industries, other countries, or a single case study, and we'd rather you trust the query you ran yourself than a figure you can't verify. Run it for your trade and your quadrant. That's the only data that matters to your business, and it's the same data our audit is built on.
Where is my business losing leads right now?
There are four common leaks. First, AI invisibility. ChatGPT and Perplexity don't recommend you when homeowners ask. Second, slow mobile. Your Call Now button takes too long to load and panicked homeowners give up. Third, mismatched local SEO. Your address or phone differs between your website and Google Business Profile, which AI platforms flag as low-confidence. Fourth, missing trust signals. No visible license number, no recent reviews, no badges. The free audit checks all four and tells you which ones apply to your business.
Can I just give the report to my web developer?
That's exactly how we built it. The PDF has two sections. A plain-English part for you that explains what's leaking and why it matters in dollars. And a developer-handoff part for your web developer with specific code, schema markup, and image sizes. Forward the whole thing or just the second half.
How quickly will I see results?
Honest answer: nobody can tell you that, and you should be suspicious of anyone who does. A mobile speed fix is live the second your developer ships it. Local SEO and AI visibility move when each platform next re-crawls you, and that timing isn't ours to control or promise. We don't guarantee rankings, recommendations or leads. What we can give you is what's leaking now and what your competitors have on the page that you don't. The fix list ranks everything by impact and effort. Fast wins first.
Which AI platforms do you scan?
We run live queries against ChatGPT with web search, Perplexity sonar-pro, and Google Gemini. Those are the three assistants Alberta homeowners are actually using to find trades, and ChatGPT carries the clear majority of it. We score visibility on each platform separately, because they don't agree with each other, and we track changes month over month.
What if I'm outside Calgary but still in Alberta?
Calgary is our home base and where we've tuned everything most tightly, but the audit works for trades across Alberta. Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Medicine Hat, and the smaller communities in between. The four dimensions we check are the same everywhere. What changes is the local competitor set and the directories that matter in your area, and the scan adjusts for that. Run your free audit with your real city and you'll get results tuned to where you actually work. If you're outside Alberta, email leadsleak@gmail.com with your city and we'll let you know when we reach you.
Why $99 once instead of a monthly subscription?
Trade owners told us they hate monthly subscriptions for things they need once. The audit is a one-time job. Fix the leaks, then you're done. If you want ongoing tracking because local competitors are moving, AI platforms update, and high-traffic queries shift monthly, the $29/month monitor is there. But it's optional.
